Sketchup

Sketchup is a great application used for architecture, construction, and also just drawing and design. I cant wait to use this app and build my exquisite house. Im not entirely sure how it works but im excited to find out. this app is google run google is taking over the world, they do everything, they now design houses, this world is crazy.

MakerBot

This machine makes 3-D objects, it is a new technology that is becoming very popular. there is no need to have one of these machines at CM. there are no program or course that we could take at this school that would be benefited by one of these devices. if we had an engineering program it would be very useful, but we dont. it has very cutting edge technology however we need to make more improvements to our technology department before we purchase this device.

Smart Things

The smart things application is a killer app available on the iTunes and android market place. this app requires the purchase of a device called the hub which is a one time fee of $99. This device will allow you to download the free app and it will allow you to lock doors, turn lights on and off, control your tv, and thermostats. This pretty much allows you to protect your house from anywhere with cellular connection.

Blender

Blender has been a life changing experience that has truly benefited my skills in programming. It has been really fun but challenging as i learn the ropes of blender. I feel a great feeling of success as i was working with my monkey adding him a hat as well as a body and changing his color. The only hard part is learning the hot route keys but it is rewarding when you do. overall i love blender.

ROTC

ROTC is a great program that helps both financially as well as your morals. After you finish college you have a service obligation that ranges from five to seven years depending on what branch you are in and i believe that that is the bad and the ugly. The good thing is that they pay for if not all of your college they pay for most of it. I personally would not do this because i don't want to have to serve for such a long time.

 

DGBL

I think that DGBL is not only good for younger students but for students of all ages. people are always playing games and that will never change so i feel like the concept of learning while playing games is the most effective way of learning. This does seem like a great idea but there can be flaws with this, such as, the addictive nature of not only games but DGBL games. Another flaw with DGBL is that these programs are hard to create and very time consuming. I think that the most overwhelming positive of DGBL is most certainly the fact that the teacher can customize the learning experience for the students. and the most prominent negative feature of DGBL is the fact that the students getting to caught up in the game concept and not learning to the full extent of a regular class room environment

Programming in Education

Schools are not teaching programming in college and if they were to attract more students in the trade the Programming field would be able to fill its millions of open jobs. Not enough people are being educated in programming and therefore millions of  well paying jobs go to waste. It is effecting our economy the lack of education in this field because we are falling behind china and India in the programming field which is worth billions. In 41 of the 50 states Computer programming isn't accepted towards high school graduation. Programming is a great field which would open up so many job opportunities.
